Long locks of darkness were surrounding you, your nose scrunched up from it.
You"You smell fine. Why are you so worried about this anyway? You have me with you."
Hana"Still won't change that I have to impress him."
You pulled your nose away from her hair, leaning back on the balls of your feet. Hana was about to go out with Jungkook. Not on a 'date', mostly on a little get together. You were here too to ensure nothing went wrong. Hana and him have hung out before, but this was a special case, if you will. This was the most serious outing him and Hana have had so far. That was according to Hana, anyway. Would Jungkook agree?
You"I'm here for you, okay? You don't have to worry too much. And I know you worry about me judging your taste in men."
She chuckled.
Hana"I know it's just because you're protective. I'm protective of you too."
You"Girl, you're like my guard dog. No wonder why Jungkook digs you. Tattoos and dark hair, naturally glaring eyes."
Hana"You're describing me like a poem."
You didn't mean to be so cheesy, but it happened anyway. Regardless, Hana laughed at that, your heart relaxing at the soft tones.
You"I really do wish you luck with him. You deserve to be happy."
She was fiddling with her fingers, chewing on her lower lip.
Hana"Is it weird that it doesn't feel very... right?"
Hana"I like Jungkook, I do, sure, but it feels like he isn't the one for me to even casually date. Not because he's an * or something, mostly because he's just... I don't know. I don't feel the connection. Maybe I'm not sassy enough. Wish I had that trait of yours."
You"And I wish I had your ability to make every outfit in the world, even yellow and green outfits, look good. My sassiness has gotten me no where except detention. How about-"
He sounded more irritating than normal, or maybe you were so protective over Hana it felt that way.
Jungkook"Hana, you look nice tonight. Y/n, you're here."
Jungkook"In all seriousness, you look nice too."
What. Since when was... okay, Jungkook was beyond confusing at this rate, but you didn't want to worry your mind about it. Regardless, Jungkook already carried on as if you thanked him.
Jungkook"Wanna get going? Maybe we can go back to your or my place after, watch a movie."
You"Wait until the third date."
You said it before thinking, but you didn't regret the words even after you said them. No way were you letting Hana be alone with a man she wasn't 100% sure of yet, especially a playboy like Jungkook. Honestly, you were surprised when you spotted no marks on his neck.
Hana"Third date. But I'd love to have a nice dinner tonight."
Oh gosh, you see what Hana meant. This was incredibly awkward to say the least. The smile Hana had was forced, maybe even scared. The sight had you pulling out your phone before you could stop yourself. Your acting skills kicked in, your brows furrowing as you pretended to read something on your phone.
When you met her eyes, you saw the desperation in there. You wish you knew what was on her mind, what was stressing her out so much about this date.
You"No actually. Check your phone, I'm getting texts from your mom. Riri's sick."
Riri, her younger sister. The one who Hana cared about more than anything.
Instantly, Hana caught on, checking her device out of Jungkook's sight.
Jungkook"Is everything okay?"
The sincerity dripping into his tone shocked you. Alright, maybe you should stop judging people based on first impressions and rumors. Maybe Jungkook wasn't an ass after all.
Hana"No, Riri's sick. She never gets sick, ever."
You"I know, that's weird. Did she say what's wrong with her?"
Hana"No, nothing at all, just that Riri's sick and that it's apparently serious."
Jungkook"Here, I'll give you money for a ride to your house."
Hana"No, it's okay, I can drive. I'm so sorry, can we talk tomorrow?"
Jungkook"Go ahead, it's alright. Health comes first."
Hana shot you a thankful look before taking off. You were about to join her, but you knew she needed some space. Hana was prone to panic attacks, and the idea of going on a date with a well-known 'bad boy' trope was probably what set her off. Probably. You'd ask later. For now, there was one person who was still here with you.
Jungkook"Are you going with her?"
You"Her family business, not mine."
You paused, leaning back and turning to him.
You"Why'd you offer her money? Why not just a ride home?"
Jungkook"I don't want to make her uncomfortable, I know women don't like getting in cars with men they don't 100% trust. Can't blame them, I wouldn't want to get in a car with someone I don't trust either. Scary *. Besides, she's already stressed enough. Riri seems important to her from what I've heard, but you'd know more than me."
For a moment, you considered telling him all about Riri and Hana's relationship. How they were closer than sisters: they were best friends for life, closer than even you and Hana. But you bit your tongue. It was Hana's story to tell, not yours. And why you wanted to speak with Jungkook in the first place was a bit concerning. With those thoughts in mind, you grinned.
You"Very important, and I appreciate you caring about her. Well, now since she's gone, guess it's time to pack it in and study for the night. See you around, Jeon."
Jungkook"Woah woah, wait."
You froze, shifting your gaze to him and tilting your head.
Jungkook"It's late at night. Let me walk you back."
For a moment, you almost rejected the offer. Right away, your mouth snapped open to bark 'no'. But you didn't. You weren't sure why. And because of that, you started a journey you didn't think you would...
